Dr. Alexander Belyakov publishes and speaks on nuclear security issues. He is a recent contributor to a special issue of the Journal of Environmental Studies and Sciences on North American food resilience published by the Association for Environmental Studies and Sciences (AESS). His presentation at the 2014 AESS Annual Meeting at Pace University in New York City uncovered the topic “From Chernobyl to Fukushima: Responses during Nuclear Emergencies and Lessons for Food Security Policies”. Dr. Belyakov has successfully expanded on the research of this topic which was introduced during his session at the 2013 Yale Food System Symposium.
Dr. Alexander Belyakov is an alumnus of the Food Security program and Sustainability Management program at Ryerson University, Toronto, Canada. He has taught at universities in Ukraine as well as Humber College in Toronto and has done widespread research on food policies, sustainability and communications. The Ryerson Senate approved his new course “Disaster & Emergency Management: International Policies and Disaster Coordination”.
